Cello Live Looping with Cosmo D

Archie Pelago’s Cosmo D Loops Some Cello from Bangbang on Vimeo.

Cosmo D, NYC’s own cello looping wunderkid, stopped by Bangbang HQ this week and we recorded a quick video of how he uses Ableton Live to record his cello on stage. Cosmo tells me that he made this Ableton Live set a bit simpler than the set he uses on stage, so that it would be a little easier to follow along with what he’s doing. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Cosmo and the rest of Archie Pelago will be showing off more of their music and talking about Live at the next NYC Ableton Users Group this coming Thursday. It’s free, but make sure you register for the event to ensure a spot!

Archie Pelago and Ableton Live at Tekserve

Bangbang is excited to present electronic dance music trio Archie Pelago performing live at the NYC Ableton User Group at Tekserve, Thursday 8/11.

Members Hirshi (turntables), Kroba (sax) and Cosmo D (cello) will demonstrate how they’re able to harness the power of Ableton Live, Serato Scratch Live, The Bridge and Max for Live. Along with this impressive array of software, Archie Pelago uses their instruments and midi controllers to achieve their unique signature of seamless beats and bass.

They recently opened for visiting DJs Oneman and Ben UFO at XLR8R’s Turrbotax party in Brooklyn and have a remix for Atlanta-based producer Distal coming out on UK Bass pioneer Pinch’s Tectonic imprint later this Fall.

This event is 100% free, but please register ahead of time to ensure entry.

To preview some tunes, check out Archie Pelago at YouTube and SoundCloud!

Writing Music to Video Dance Footage with Ableton Live

Karl Sadler is a multi-talented Musician, Director, Artist/Hacker, as well as great friend. Here is a fun creative experiment he has done using Ableton Live’s video functionality to write some sound to picture. Thanks to Cabo Snoop, Chris Saunders, Rod Stanley, and Dazed Digital for the footage and killer dance moves!
